After careful deliberation, a number of companies that make LCD TVs have been fined a total of $538 million USD. The companies involved include Epson Imaging Devices, Hitachi, Sharp, Samsung and more.

The $538 million will be used to settle the allegations that they have been controlling the prices of LCD panels which cost the market more than they were actually supposed to pay for a period of 8 years.

All companies are also required to comply with antitrust programs to further improve their social and legal responsibilities to their customers.

This will also apply to future Nokia operating systems including the “Carla” and the “Donna”. The Nokia Carla is expected to debut in the 2nd quarter of 2012 while the Donna to follow soon.

It was a good run for Symbian, but Nokia has no choice but to go with the signs of the times. It’s Android and iOS country baby, and the Finnish handset maker has no choice but to adapt if they want to stay.

It appears as though Sony Ericsson is currently developing it’s first Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 smartphone and for now, we only know it as the Nypon LT22i altough I doubt that it would be it’s final name.

From a leaked info by Recombu, the Sony Ericsson Nypon will sport a qHD display with a pixel resolution of 960 x 540 and will run a processor named NovaThor U8500, a dual-core 1 GHz processor home brewed by Sony.

Big news came to us today, as Amazon announced that their Kindle Fire will soon come with support for big apps and mobile services like Twitter, Facebook, Netflix, Rhapsody and more. This means only one thing, that Amazon’s newest eReader is officially part of the “club” where the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S 2 and other big hit devices belong.

Amazon is also in talks with more content providers to bring Kindle Fire users more than just eBooks.

Stephen Elop, Nokia’s CEO is set to announce the first batch of Windows Phone devices in London come October 26 and 27. The devices will run Windows Phone Mango or Windows Phone 7.5.

TeleNav has announced what appears to be a joint venture between them and mobile operator Sprint. According to the announcement, all existing Android phones from Sprint will be coming with TeleNav’s GPS Navigator 7.1 mobile app.

This means customers will have free access to TeleNav’s turn-by-turn navigation program. The software features navigation with real-time traffic updates along with a relatively smoother map rendering.

The app will work on the network’s line-up of Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphones including the Samsung Galaxy S II, the LG Marquee, the HTC EVO 3D and more.

It looks like the wait for the first batch of phones that will be packing NVIDIA’s Quad-core Kal-El processor will be so worth it as new reports are saying that it will actually have a fifth core to assist the four major cores.

If my understanding about the subject is right, then the processor should be more powerful than actually advertised. According to reports, it will have a technology called vSMP or Variable Symmetric Multiprocessing which is designed to do tasks at low freuency.

We’ve been hearing a number of rumors about the launch of Google’s Nexus Prime and this new one may top it all up as it is saying that the phone will be launching from Verizon come November 3rd. The Google Nexus Prime would be the first phone that will be running Google’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich so normally, all eyes are on it.

The Google Nexus Prime will sport a dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor and will be coming with an 8 megapixel camera on the back while a 2 megapixel camera is fitted on the front for video calls. Unfortunately, other rumors are pointing to its screen running short at only 800x 400, a specification that quite fails to support the hardware inside.
